Full Disk Encryption Recovery Overview

Do not try to perform any repairs using 3rd party tools. If the machine shows Windows Automatic Repair, then it must be allowed to complete. Cancelling Automatic Repair can lead to irrecoverable data loss.

 

This article explains how to decrypt a Workstation that is unable to boot Windows correctly. This only applies to Workstations that have been Full Disk Encrypted (FDE) with ESET Endpoint Encryption.

If the Workstation you are attempting to decrypt is unable to boot due to a hardware failure, then you can remove the encrypted disk and connect it to another machine as the only connected boot disk. Once connected correctly, follow the relevant article from the list below, ensuring you repeat the process for each encrypted disk in need of recovery.

Note: you must not attempt to decrypt an encrypted disk using a disk caddy.
