Installing a managed version of ESET Endpoint Encryption
Article ID: KB253 email a link to this article

To install a managed version of ESET Endpoint Encryption (EEE), the installation will need to be generated from the ESET Endpoint Encryption Server.

If you have downloaded and installed EEE from the ESET web site, this will be a standalone installation which will need to be converted to a managed installation. For the policies set in the EEE Server to be applied to the client machine and so that the EEE Server and Client are able to communicate with each other through the Cloud Proxy, a managed version must be installed. For instructions on how to do this, see our knowledge base article : KB286 - How do I convert a standalone installation of ESET Endpoint Encryption to a managed installation?.

You can install a managed version of the client software in one of two ways:

1. Push an install from the ESET Endpoint Encryption Server

The push install of the client software will only work if the taget machine is connected to the network on which the EEE Server is installed and is discoverable by that machine. Instructions of how to push the client to a system can be found by following the knowledge base article:

2. Generate an MSI from the ESET Endpoint Encryption Server

If it is not possible to push the install from the EEE Server because you have

  • Remote workers
  • Satellite sites
  • A series of VLAN's which prevents the EEE Server from discovering the workstations

Then you will need to generate and download an MSI from the EEE Server to install a managed version of the client software on to your workstations. For instructions on how to do this please see our knowledge base article:
